The photo
The couple had just called for half an hour while John was boarding his next flight. Chloe had been on the way home during the phone call and now plopped down on the couch. Suddenly she received a message from her husband, who had to be on the plane by now.
“Could you send me a picture of yourself? I miss you so much, and it’s hard not seeing you for these next few weeks. Please,” John typed out the message with a sense of longing. After sending it, he turned his phone on airplane mode and double-checked his seatbelt as the plane began to taxi.
With the engines roaring to life, John felt a mix of excitement for his journey and sadness at being apart from Chloe. As the plane prepared for takeoff, he couldn’t shake the feeling of emptiness without her by his side. But he held onto the hope that a photo from her would bring him some comfort during his time away.
He had no idea what awaited him…
